EXECUTIVE HIRE SHOW REVIEW

“A great shop window for our industry”

Hire professionals got a lot out of their visit to the Show. Alan Guthrie caught up with some of them as they made their way round the busy aisles.

“ As ever, we found the Show to be

a great shop window for our industry and a good chance to catch up with friends, suppliers and long-standing acquaintances. Being based in Northern Ireland,

we don’t always get to meet face-to- face with some of our suppliers as often as we would like, so the Show provides us with an excellent opportunity to do so. We have learned over the years that we need both days

to get real value from the event and regularly conclude some worthwhile business. This year was no different, with Snorkel receiving an order in excess of £150,000, and we placed

one with Altrad Belle that included one of their new 1-tonne dumpers, which hopefully will lead to more in the future. We purchased some floor sanders from Bona for the first time and have arranged numerous

meetings with other suppliers, new and old, for over the coming months. All in all, we found the Show to be very worthwhile and have no doubt we’ll be there next year.

“ We bought a 1-tonne dumper with

the new wide wheel option from Altrad Belle, along with their BWX 15/250 bowser pressure washer during our visit to the Show. So that’s left me a bit skint for a while - LOL! It was also good to see other industry people that we haven’t seen for ages.

“ The Show is a great place to see what is new in

the industry. We have placed orders with Xenith Heights, Duro, Thwaites, Belle and Sealey here. We looked very closely at some interesting products from the likes of Snorkel, Hilti, Slanetrac, HSC, Niftylift, AKFS and Bravi, and have arranged a number of meetings and demos in the near future. So it has proved to be extremely productive and valuable for us to attend. All in all, it is the premier Show for us. Both of us

believe that 2020 will be a year of opportunity for Clements Plant and we are well placed to take advantage of the positive mood. The feel of the Show was ‘cautious optimism’, which we perceive to be just right. It was also nice to see Alan Guthrie at the

Show, to thank him for his efforts over the last two decades.

The event was as well organised as ever and didn’t

disappoint. We found some very interesting new pieces of kit and took full advantage of talking to the staff on the stands to hear about the latest product ideas. We visited the Altrad Belle stand for a coffee and

were so impressed with the new 1-tonne dumper that we ordered one to add to our fleet! Overall, a busy and productive two days.

We spent two days at the Show and we saw a lot of very

interesting things. We bought a Sumner lift and a lot of equipment from HSC, including their new moulded extension leads and their very innovative hydraulic lift table for workshops. At the Show, you can see all the new products from the major

suppliers, play with it and see how it all works. It is fantastic for a small independent hirer like us because it gives us an insight into what’s happening throughout our industry. We’ll certainly be back next year.
