EXECUTIVE HIRE SHOW REVIEW continued

More Morris options

Recognising demand from some contractors to tailor machines with various ‘green’ options to suit individual site conditions, Morris Site Machinery showed a prototype machine in the shape of the TL55 Solar H2 lighting tower. The unit operates from two hydrogen cylinders mounted within the

Genquip makes it easy

Genquip Groundhog promoted several products that are designed to combine the benefits of solar technology with ease of use, making it straightforward for contractors to lower their carbon footprints. “Products like our new unisex solar hybrid toilet and solar hybrid

welfare units have been developed to withstand the rigours of hire,” said Sales & Marketing Manager, Peter Beach, who is pictured, right, with Genquip Groundhog’s Dennis Hughes, centre, and Ryan Ratcliffe. “And, as well as consuming less fossil fuels in operation, they reduce the number of service vehicle visits required, giving further environmental benefits.”

HGI (Harrington Generators International) deserves special mention for its commitment to environmental friendliness. Not only was the company displaying its latest machines designed for low levels of noise and emissions, but also every part of its stand was recyclable. The stand panels were constructed of tough cardboard with

embossed imagery, the carpet was made from 100% recyclable fibres, and the comfortable seats comprised stacks of thin cardboard boxes filled with an eco-friendly foam material. HGI carefully took all the stand components back to its

Wirksworth headquarters and crushed them for easy disposal. 01629 824284

“A watershed moment” is how Hilti perceives the recent decision of the Health & Safety Executive to classify respirable crystalline silica (RCS) dust as a carcinogen that can cause cancer. Matias Järnefelt, Head of Hilti Northern Europe and General Manager

with Hilti (Gt. Britain), told EHN that recent independent research commissioned by the company showed that its DCH 300-X wet/dry electric cutter (pictured) produces considerably less inhalable dust than some comparable products when fitted with the appropriate on-tool dust collection system. “There are approximately 500 deaths a year associated with

RCS and we want to make users and hirers aware of the solutions available,” he said. “As well as enhancing safety, better dust collection improves productivity and performance, with less clean-up time required afterwards.” EHN plans to report on Hilti’s latest findings in a future issue.

chassis, and the fuel cells emit no pollutants because the only emission is water vapour. This additional energy source switches in automatically to charge the batteries as required, especially during long winter nights and adverse weather. As MD Allan Binstead told EHN, the machine could also be

specified to utilise solar, wind and propane sources depending on the required application and site location. “We are showing it here as a platform product with modular options. It can be fitted with an auto-dimming facility, allowing light output to be reduced and running time to be extended.”
