ELECTRIC Briggs & Stratton powers forward
As reported in our January/February Show Preview issue, Briggs & Stratton displayed its new 5kWh Vanguard Commercial Power Lithium-ion Battery system. It delivers 48V to power a diverse range of machinery. The company showed a ‘concept’ product in the
livery of Boels Rental, comprising two of the battery packs linked together and housed in a portable generator-style frame, and delivering 10kWh. Paul Bramhall, Briggs & Stratton’s Senior Manager
Marketing - Commercial Engines, said that such a unit could provide handy power with zero emissions at sites without a convenient mains electricity supply, and in underground locations.

Molson Compact Equipment showed the new electric version of the Cormidi C85 tracked dumper. Complete with a 4.47kW motor powered by lithium-ion batteries, this 810mm- wide rubber tracked dumper was shown with an 800kg-capacity high-tip skip with a maximum discharge height of 1,500mm. It has a touch screen that displays information
such as the percentage of power remaining. The operator can select from three power modes: Standard (for normal speed and maximum battery life), Performance (more speed, reduced battery
life) and Hyper (greatest speed, lowest battery life). The battery pack can be removed quickly using a purpose-built wheeled trolley for continuous machine operation.

Pramac-Generac showed the new Cube+ Hybrid lighting tower which has a Stage 5-ready twin cylinder Kubota engine. It runs at 1,500rpm for reduced fuel consumption and has a quoted noise level rating of 58dB at 7m. The machine incorporates absorbent glass mat
(AGM) batteries and is fitted with LED lights, designed for wide illumination. Slide-on anti-glare panels are available for the lamp heads.
