from Warnelview included, Warnelview Rockstar. He was sired by Supersire from Warnelview Iota Ruby currently number eight on the UK index list. This was the highest PLI sire to ever sell in the UK at public auction with a PLI+£521. He sold for 4400gns to W J Fisher, Mark Farm, Stranraer. The Annandale herd owned by the Armour family, Moffat, sold Annandale Barnstable for the second highest price of the day at 4700gns. He was bred from the Barb family and was purchased by G W and J Mercer. Average: 54 bulls £2454.38 (Harrison and Hetherington)


Ravensgate top Craven Dairy Auction A top price of £2080 was paid at Craven Dairy Auction in the middle of April for Ravensgate Garrison Sparkle 207 from Peter Paul. Tapped out as reserve champion in the pre-sale show by judge Colin Whitelock this month calved heifer out of a Bolton sired dam sold giving 30kg to Alf and Andrew Townsend, Burnley. Next best at £2020 was the pre-sale champion Newbirks Jazz 1607 from David and Claire Lawson. Sired by the homebred Goldwyn son Newbirks Jazwyn she was three weeks fresh when she sold giving 34kg to Wick Williams, Nantwich. Mr Williams then paid £1980 for the third prize heifer from Fred and Mark Houseman. At £1820 was a Ravensgate heifer, another acquisition of Mr Williams. David Leeming, Burnt Yates, started to disperse his herd with a consignment of 20 fresh calved cows and heifers. His heifers traded to £1900 to George Fleetwood. In-calf heifers were up to £1260 for the fi rst prize winner from David and Jill Pennock and selling to David Shuttleworth, Gargrave. Averages: pedigree heifers in milk £1627, cows in milk £1307. Hilltara dominate Holstein trade at Moira The McCormick family’s Hilltara herd led trade at Moira in April for both bulls and females, the sale leader at 3450gns was Hilltara Simon. This Windbrook son is out of the VG89 Hilltara Alexander Sara who gave 8400kg at 4.48%bf and 3.2%p in her fi rst lactation and is backed by a further seven generations of VG or EX. He sold to John O’Brien, Jerrettspass, Co Down. The highest priced female at 2750gns was the September 2012-born Hilltara Wyman Charlotte. Sired by the Goldwyn son Wyman she is backed by 11 generations of VG or EX with her dam being the VG Hilltara Knowledge Charlotte 2. She was purchased by Gordon Davis, Dromore, Co Tyrone. Just short of that at 2720gns was the McLean family’s Relough Shottle Roxie 25 who was snapped up by Michael McBride, Plumbridge, Co Tyrone. She is out of Relough Duplex Roxie 11 EX who averaged 8787kg at 4.14%bf and 3.17%p in fi ve lactations.


As well as having the top prices the McCormicks also took the female championship with Hilltara Windbrook Bobby Joe. Her dam is the 2011 Northern Ireland Calf Show champion Hilltara Lheros Bobby Joe GP81. Fresh four weeks she sold giving 34kg a day and was knocked down at 2420gns to Desmond and Jonathan Moore, Fintona, Co Tyrone. Sam, Trish and John McCormick had a good day selling six heifers to average £2422, with Hilltara Doberman Jacqui selling for 2320gns to Gordon Davis, Dromore. While at £2300 was Hilltara Mistral Daydream who sold to Will Herron, Newtownhamilton.


Also at 2300gns was the reserve male champion Prehen Silvio from Stuart and Robbie Smith. By Va- Early Dawn Sudan he is out of Silla EX-GER, a Hardline Titanic daughter who has bull contacts in six counties. Purchasing him was John O’Brien, Jerrettspass. Making 2250gns was another of the McCormick’s consignment, Hilltara Iota Evelyn who sold to Michael McBride.


Carrowcroft Richman from Geoffrey Patton stood male champion before selling for 2000gns to William Parke, Ballyward. Sired by Co-Op Bosside Massey he is out of Carrowcroft Mr Legend Ruby VG86 who gave more than 9400kg at 4.82%bf and 3.84%p in her second lactation.
