BREEDERS ACHIEVEMENTS Tannockhill Grace 53 EX95-7E SP LP100 Tannockhill Grace 53 completed 100 tonnes of milk early in her tenth lactation and became the second daughter of
Tannockhill Grace 15 EX90-2E to achieve this after her Raider sister Tannockhill Grace 26 VG85. Grace 53 has been very easy to manage, being a fertile cow with a very low cell count and a cow which has kept improving with age starting as an 83 point heifer and peaking at 95 points in her ninth lactation. Unfortunately, her biggest fault has been a lack of daughters with only two in the herd, a VG88 Laurin and VG86 Million. Hopefully this will improve as she is scanned with twins by Numero Uno. Overseal Prim 222 EX90-5E
Overseal Prim 222 is the oldest cow in the Overseal herd at 13 years, 10 months and has recently passed the 120t milestone. Her longevity derives from her superb dairy strength and great feet and legs. She has yielded more than 13,000kg on three occasions, but her real legacy is the quality of stock she has produced with four EX daughters still milking in the herd along with numerous grand and great granddaughters. Her first daughter by Sinatra classified 84 points and yielded 50t in four lactations breeding two daughters including a Shottle that achieved 90t in six lactations. This milk machine completed two lactations at more than 15,000kg and one at more than 16,000kg. Her Degas daughter Overseal Prim 281 EX91 has also inherited this will to milk with 57t to date in four lactations with CPI’s of 125 and 126. Overseal Prim Red 255 is the second daughter of Prim 222. By Weeton Jackson, she classified EX94 and has given 71t in six lactations with her last record averaging 5.06%bf and 3.56%p. In turn she has a VG85 daughter by Cooks Farm Detective and an EX92 Gold Bullion. The Detective has second calved VG twins by Overseal Action Man, while the Gold Bullion has less milk, but very high fat and has a VG87 Shottle, VG85 Overseal Goldshot and a maiden heifer by Army.
Excellence Challenger sired Prim 222’s third heifer Overseal Prim 278 EX93 who has a VG86 two year old daughter by Overseal Goldshot.
The fourth daughter is by the Outside son Overseal Captain and like her dam she has great dairy strength. Classified EX90 in her third lactation she has offspring by Bluesky, Jordan and Impression. The final daughter was actually a twin whose sister tragically died in a freak accident as a yearling. This EX92 Shottle daughter Overseal Prim 301 stood fifth in a strong class of senior three year olds at UK Dairy Day 2014.
Despite being out of an average cow and by our stock bull Overseal Wandering, Prim 222 is the foundation of a tremendous family with so many notable individuals. Pete Marshall
