Classified EX93, she is by Talent and out of the EX90 Durham daughter Smiddiehill Durm Ashlyn, with her granddam being the Royal Winter Fair and Madison champion, Tri-Day Ashlyn. As a heifer she was All Britain Intermediate heifer in milk 2012, reserve heifer champion at the Great Yorkshire Show and overall champion at Cheshire Show that year.
The quality in the Holstein breed shone right through to the mature cow class and the six cows in this class highlighted the longevity the breed can offer. Taking second spot here was Andrew and Jane Whittaker’s fifth calver Knowlesmere Jordan Diamond. Fresh is June she gave 11,645kg at 5.09%bf and 3.23%p in her fourth lactation and also classified EX94. She stood reserve champion in March last year at UK Dairy Expo and reserve champion at the Western Show.
In the Red and White classes Brian Weatherup’s Parkend Director Starlet Red won the heifer class. This Scientific Director-Red daughter calved in August and is giving 35 litres. She is out of Lesmay Jordan Starlet Red and stood intermediate champion at UK Dairy Day last year. Dilandy Debonair Tabitha Red EX92 won the cow class, owned in partnership by Brian and Sheila Yates with Gilmour and Caroline Lawrie. Calved in April with her third, she gave 14,569kg at 4.05%bf and 3.27%p as a second calver. She was interbreed champion at the Royal Highland and Dumfries Shows this year having stood SuperCow at AgriScot 2012.
