Hodglynn, Absolute and Howdydoody. Her dam is the EX92 Butz-Butler Gold Barbara and the heifer has successfully been flushed in Canada to Doorman. Hopefully she will be one to watch in the show ring in the future. “One of the best cows I’ve ever seen was Rockymountain Talent Liquorice EX95 and we have one heifer calf by Goldwyn out of a Numero Uno daughter of Talent Liquroice, as well as Doorman embryos out of a Goldchip daughter.” Showing is something Mark and Colin have got a lot of enjoyment out of, as well as promoting the herd it is also a sociable hobby. “We enjoy showing because we appreciate high type cows and we’ve enjoyed some success in the show ring, in 2010 we stood second at the National Holstein Show with Bridge End Talent Minnie EX93. It was great to be able to show Bridge End Sid Sheer at the first UK Dairy Day, it was a brilliant event with a super show of cows.” The Black and White Sale has always been an event that the Dents have attend over the years whether buying or selling and in December they sold Bridge End Wind Sara, a VG87 scored two year old for 3500gns to Robert Hunter for his Letterkenny herd. Her dam is the VG88 Sahara Goldwyn Sara 3 who was purchased for 2800gns and is full sister to Sahara Goldwyn Sara 2 EX93 who was reserve champion at Agri-Scot 2014. Also selling

was Bridge End Atwood Flo 2, an April 2014-born calf out of the EX94 Berryholme Posh Flo, a full sister to Berryholme Shottle Flo EX94 who was grand champion at the National All Breeds Show 2010, she was purchased by Kevin and Christine Wilson of the Warnelview herd, for 5800gns. The most consistent cow families in the herd are the Ravens and Rhapsodys. With 120 Ravens registered and 70 Rhapsodys their prominence in the herd has been accelerated through flushing. “We do have a lot of Raven and Rhapsody family members, but because they have been so consistently good we’ve always flushed them. The Raven family started with the purchase of Marsbar Convincer Raven for 11,000gns at the Wolfa dispersal, she is one of the best individual investments and has more than paid for herself. One daughter that springs to mind is Bridge End Shottle Raven, an EX91 cow that has done 70t of milk to date and is due her sixth calf shortly. She has bred two EX and four VG daughters including my favourite Bridge End Howie Raven EX91, who in turn has one VG88 two year old who is due in March with her second and two VG86 two year olds all by Jordan,” says Mark.
