eading trade at the Richaven Elite sale for Richard and Dawn Bown was Richaven Doorman Adrienne a daughter of the All Britain winner Richaven Goldwyn Adrienne EX95. Bidders from England, Scotland, Ireland, Luxemburg and Germany battled to own this special heifer, but the winning bid of 7000gns was from a Welsh man.


Richaven Rapture Rebecca EX93, twice reserve champion at UK Dairy Expo has only one daughter, this Gen-I-Beq Sammy sired heifer sold for 6000gns to Ian Cannon, Lanark. She had many of her dam’s amazing traits and above all was blessed with tons of style and class. Val-Bisson Doorman is currently one of the hottest sires in the world today and selling for 5500gns was Richaven Doorman Dellia. Her pedigree was world class, bred from an Excellent 93 Goldwyn from an Excellent 94 Encore from the 95 pointed Snow-N Denises Dellia. She now joins the herd of Ian Gilmour, Humeston Farm, Ayrshire.


Three world class heifers were purchased by Anthony Grimshaw, Harricroft Farm, Bolton, the best of this special trio was Richaven Shadow Stocking selling for 5200gns. Average: £3717 Harrison and Hetherington

RICHAVEN OPEN DAY AND ELITE SALE Feithy TAG Sale


Holstein UK held their annual open day in June for the winners of last year’s Premier Pedigree Herd Competition, Messrs E R and M E Jones and Sons’ Feithy herd, at Kidwelly, Carmarthenshire. Some 500 people attended, mostly from South Wales and this wonderful prizewinning herd was much admired. Some of the herd’s best animals were offered with a price tag attached and the top price paid was £5000 for the second calver Feithy Rachel Atwood VG-88, champion heifer in the South Wales Herd Competition last year. Buyers were R D H and M Bowen and she joins their Lan herd at Idole, Carmarthen.


The Lilac family is one of the oldest, most numerous and best families in the herd and Holstein UK president Randolph Miller and his son, Brian, gave £3500 for a very smart calf by Wabash- Way Explode out of an EX94 Goldwyn cow, whose dam had scored 93 points.
