hind legs very well,” commented Robert. To complete the hat trick of interbreed titles the group of four took the overall honours with the team consisting of the interbreed champion Parkend Sanchez Tamara, interbreed heifer champion Boclair Sid Hope, reserve breed champion Illens Atwood Australia from Blythbridge Holsteins and the first prize mature cow Blythbridge Blackjack Jackie. Holstein judge Hugh Neilson from Overside Holsteins commented on his championship decision: “It was a very close placing in the overall championship, but I gave the third calver the advantage for her style and ring presence combined with a better rump structure and front teats over a super framed cow in reserve that I really admired for her rear udder and ligament.”

Standing reserve in the Holstein classes was Blythbridge Holsteins’ second lactation Illens Atwood Australia who was imported earlier this year from the Illens herd in Switzerland. She stood top of the biggest class of the day with eight second calvers forward and previously stood champion at Expo Sarine 2015 and second at Swiss Expo 2014, as well as champion junior at Expo Bulle 2014. Commenting on the heifer championship Hugh Neilson said: “The senior heifer had advantage for size and scale through the front end and more volume of udder, although I really admired the correctness and sweetness of the junior heifer.” Meiklefirth Windhammer Jo Flo from David Yates stood reserve heifer champion having won the junior class. Classified VG87 she is the highest classified Windhammer daughter in the UK and calved at 24 months old in December.
