Heading here
I just arrived home on Sunday (September 11)
to Dundee (my hometown) from my Brussels base just in time to see the cortege passing my parents’ house.
My fellow Dundonains did the city of Dundee proud and came out in their thousands to line the streets for Her Majesty to pass peacefully and with huge respect through Dundee. We were very privileged to have been a part of the late Queen Elizabeth’s great last journey as she made her way through Scotland from Balmoral to Edinburgh. What a lady she was, short in stature but has left a huge, huge, huge legacy.

At Netdigitizing, we are deeply saddened by the loss of Her
Majesty the Queen. At this terribly sad time, our thoughts are with the entire British Royal Family and the nation, as we grieve her immeasurable loss. Although we never had the chance to meet Her Majesty, we were involved in digitising her corgi that was gifted to her embroidered on a cushion for one of our customers.

My memory of the Queen goes back to July 2007 when Her Majesty and His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh visited my hometown, Weston-Super-Mare in North Somerset. Although it was the middle of summer, on this particular day it rained very heavily. The crowds waiting patiently to see the Queen were covered with a ceiling of umbrellas, but we still got soaked from head to toe. Eventually, when her car arrived, her main bodyguard shouted out in military fashion: “Umbrellas up now!”. As the Queen stepped out of the car thankfully the rain stopped. I will always remember her beautiful radiant smile which lifted the crowd. We were all enchanted by her
We were all enchanted by her wonderful presence.

NetDigitizing digitised for a cushion for the Queen
Like the rest of the nation, I was deeply saddened by the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II; however, it gave me pause to revisit the fond memories I have in my interface with her, both directly and indirectly. I own a small business called The Fashion Workshop in Ascot. The core of the business provides both an alteration service and the design and manufacturing of high-end couture garments, in addition we also provide a bespoke embroidery service to our clients; and it is in this sector that I was commissioned to provide gifts for the Queen on more than one occasion. One of them was to produce a cushion embroidered with a Royal corgi to be given to the Queen, but the major one with which I have fond memories was when I was asked by the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead to produce several dog coats for Her Majesty’s corgis embroidered with the Borough’s crest for her 90th birthday celebrations in Windsor. We digitised the crest in-house, embroidered each coat and packed them in a presentation box. The Mayor, Sayonara Luxton, was to present it to Her Majesty during her visit to the Windsor Guildhall; being a Borough Councillor at the time, I was privileged to be present on the occasion. I remember it very fondly because when the Mayor presented the box to Her Majesty on the day there were some nervous security personnel, as the box had not been checked previously; especially when the Mayor then whipped off the lid to show the contents to the Queen. The Queen was both surprised and amused by the gift, the Mayor then introduced me to Her Majesty as the one who created the coats and we had a brief chat before she moved on. The day that I had a personal one-to-one with the Queen is one that I will remember forever.
