Special Report Rest in peace Your Majesty
After more than 70 years on the throne, Queen Elizabeth II passed away at Balmoral Castle at the age of 96 on Thursday, September 8. Here the industry shares their fond memories of our longest serving monarch and pay their respects.
On hearing the news of Her Majesty the Queen’s passing, I found it odd how I could have so much love and admiration for a woman I never knew.
She said on her 21st birthday in 1947 that whether her whole life be long or short that it be devoted to service, and she could not have been truer to her word. She spent her entire life serving the nation and has been all that I, and many others, have ever known as our Head of State. She was an extraordinary woman and may she now rest in peace.

I was sincerely moved and surprised that we had so many condolences through our company from staff in our Chinese
suppliers all who said that the Queen was so important to them which really resounded in their messages. We received more comment from China, than from any other country.

While we have not had the good fortune to meet the Queen, we were granted our Royal Warrant for flag making in 2008 – but have been manufacturing flags for the Royal Households since 2000. We manufacture many flags which are flown from their palaces and residencies throughout the UK. Most notably is the largest Union Flag flown in the UK which can be observed at Windsor Castle measuring 38x19ft. They also fly a Royal Standard which is the same size and this is flown on special days such as The Garter Day.
It is without question an absolute honour to have manufactured the coff in drapes, both English and Scottish versions, for Her Majesty but it is held with a sad feeling, as normally we manufacture flags for

The touching observation about the coff in drape is that apparently the Queen had a large input into the design of the Jaguar hearse and in illuminating the hearse, and the coff in drape, from the journey from RAF Northolt to Buckingham Palace allowed everybody to have an historic moment of feeling.
