Company Profile

stablished over twenty years ago, Amusement Technical have slowly but surely made their way on to the list of household names building and servicing some of the best rides in the industry – there is seemingly no job they won’t take on. Company MD, Sean Brian, tells us how a bus journey in Blackpool changed his life forever and led to a lifelong career in the amusement industry.

History

As a child I was always fascinated by electronics, at the age of 14 I taught myself to repair TV’s, videos and audio equipment, and used this to earn some extra cash while I completed my education. At the time I was living in Blackpool and one day on the bus on the way to college I noticed a new video game that wasn’t working outside an amusement arcade. I figured that the technology couldn’t be so different to what I had become used to with home electronics so I introduced myself to the owner and offered to repair it.

The one stop shop for all your ride’s needs I had always been drawn to the amusement industry so this

was a fantastic opportunity for me, it turned out the technology was absolutely similar and within weeks I found myself repairing most of the amusement machines in Blackpool. During this time I was introduced to the waxworks there,

and this relationship led to me designing animatronics for them and ultimately other clients. By the time I finished my education I already had a small customer base and I immediately set up producing animatronics. This is how the company started building animatronics, the

requirement to build sets around these led us also into theming. These projects would often be part of a ghost train, and this led us in to developing dark ride transport systems. We then developed in to the production of juvenile rides, the extension of our product lines has always been a natural progression.
