The Year of Pixar 2
A new seaside treat has been unveiled at Disney California Adventure Park – Pixar Pier, a newly reimagined land located on the waterfront at Disneyland Resort. Formerly Paradise Pier, it now houses the Incredicoaster and Pixar Pal-A-Round attractions, as well as imaginative neighbourhoods, live entertainment, and a whole host of characters and Pixar stories, brought to life in all new ways.
018 marks the “Year of Pixar” at Disney Parks, where guests are enjoying two decades of Pixar stories, and there has already been plenty to celebrate: Shanghai
Disney Resort recently opened Disney Pixar Toy Story Land, and Walt Disney World opened Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Guests enter Pixar Pier through a marquee leading to four
themed neighborhoods, the first being Incredibles Park, home to the Incredicoaster – a rethemed Intamin coaster featuring new music, lighting, ride vehicles, special effects, and a narrative based on the recent Incredibles 2, which was released July 13, grossing $504.382 million within 24 days of domestic release. The Incredicoaster, formerly California Screamin’, is the
fastest and longest attraction at the Resort, zooming across more than 6,000 ft of track, taking guests on a super- powered adventure with the Parr family as they chase after the elusive bay Jack-Jack. Dash, Violet, Mr & Mrs Incredible, and Edna Mode all do their best to rescue the tricky tot, who creates colourful chaos on the track. Across the way from Incredibles Park is Toy Story
Boardwalk, a neighbourhood featuring Toy Story Mania and a whole host of 4D carnival games. Additionally, guests won’t have to wait long before they can giddy-up on Jessie’s Critter Carousel, coming in 2019, inspired by Jessie’s friends in the Woodys Roundup television show from Toy Story 2. This new take on a boardwalk classic includes 56 critters to choose from. Next up on the Boardwalk is the Pixar Promenade, where
Pixar favourites meet the charm of the seaside. Mickey’s Fun Wheel has been transformed into the Pixar Pal-A-Round, taking guests up high to enjoy the sweeping sights of the pier from 24 newly decorated gondolas, each adorned with a Pixar pal. The new Games of Pixar Pier also features on the promenade, challenging guests to test their skills and win a prize at the pay-for-play game booths: La Luna Star Catcher, Heimlich’s Candy Corn Toss, WALL•E Space Race, and Bullseye Stallion Stampede. For food and drink with a side order of story, fans can dine

at the new family-oriented Lamplight Lounge near the entrance to Pixar Pier. The Lounge serves a menu of Californian style gastro-pub cuisine, playfully presented, and signature cocktails, all in celebration of the creativity, inspiration, and personalities of the artists and storytellers who have brought Pixar’s stories to life. Guests will be able to discover hidden artistic gems in the lounge, including concept art, sketches on coasters, memorabilia, and collectible Pixar toys.

There are a number of other creative food and drink hotspots along Pixar Pier, with stories and menus inspired by Pixar films; Adorable Snowman Frosted Treats, Incredibles Park’s Jack-Jack Cookie Num Nums, and Poultry Palace and Senor Buzz Churros at Toy Story Boardwalk to name a few. Pixar Pier made its debut during Pixar Fest, a limited-time
celebration of friendship that runs until September 3 throughout the Disneyland Resort. The remaining areas of the original Paradise Pier – including Paradise Gardens, Silly Symphony Swings, Jumping Jellyfish, Goofy’s Sky School, Golden Zephyr and The Little Mermaid Ariel’s Undersea Adventure – have become a new land, named Paradise Gardens Park. And there’s more to stay tuned for – the Inside Out Headquarters, inspired by Joy, Sadness, and the emotions of Pixar’s Inside Out, is set to welcome its very own family- friendly attraction in 2019.
