Over 2,900 entries were submitted in a competition to name Dreamland’s new addition, located in Margate, England. ‘Dreamcatcher’ was chosen by a panel of judges after being suggested by 111 people – one of which, randomly selected, was selected as the winner of the competition.

wanted to share in the naming process and be part of Dreamland’s new look for the summer with a host of new rides and a fun family festival feel every day at the park.”


Work begins to revive Heide Park’s Colossos coaster


Dismantling of the rails has begun on the Colossos, Europe’s highest and fastest wooden rollercoaster. Managing director of Heide Park Resort, Sabrina de Carvalho, announced in January this year that the fan favourite Intamin coaster will return for the 2019 season with a €12m investment from parent company Merlin Entertainments. Now, construction has begun, and the


old Kerto wooden rails and ledgers have been completely removed. The project is a

huge undertaking for the RCS company from Hamburg, a specialist in the construction and dismantling of roller coasters as well as for Fa. Cordes, a wood-engineering company from Rotenburg which was already involved in the construction in 2000. “Now we can start,” said project manager Thorsten Berwald. “all trades have set up and we start the project dismantling.”

John Hallenbeck named vice president of North American operations by IAAPA


IAAPA has announced that John Hallenbeck has joined the association's team as vice president of North American operations. Hallenbeck will lead the IAAPA North American office, based in Orlando, and oversee membership engagement, growth, and service of the association largest region, representing more than 3,500 members. With more than 25 years of themed


entertainment experience, Hallenbeck most recently served as managing director of project development at Hershey Entertainment & Resorts. Prior to that, he served as vice president of revenue operations at Dubai Parks and Resorts, and senior vice president of attractions for Universal Studios Singapore, Southeast Asia Aquarium, Adventure Cove, and Dolphin Island located within Resorts World Sentosa in Singapore.
