CraZanity swings into gear at Six Flags S
ix Flags Magic Mountain, California, has introduced CraZanity, - an oversized version of Zamperla’s Giant
Discovery 40. The new spin and swing flat ride seats 40 riders in outward-facing suspended seats that form a giant circle. Their legs dangle freely, and each seat has an individual shoulder restraint and restraining belt. At a record-breaking 17 stories in the air,
the giant disk reaches speeds up to 75 mph, and swings higher and higher to give riders a staggering view of the park below. Designed and manufactured by Soriani, CraZanity was sold by Zamperla USA. CraZanity carries a light package for
evening riding consisting of 3,200 lights. There are 1600 RGB lamps for the four supporting legs, 700 RGB lamps for the pendulum column, 500 spot lights for the sign, and 400 adorning the gondola.
Good things come in threes at Fun-Land
Central Park Fun-Land’s newest ride has arrived – a brand new indoor roller coaster, the Twist ‘n Shout. A family friendly thrill with a twist, the new SBF ride features a figure eight style track and four individual spinning cars. Three new additions have
been introduced to the park during 2018 – the busiest period in Fun-Land’s 21 year history; an indoor Clip ‘n Climb activity and Hologate Virtual Reality experience preceded the Twist ‘n Shout.
To provide space for indoor coaster, The Tubs of Fun tea cups has been moved to the outdoor collection of attractions.
ASTM International announces revisions to amusement ride standard
In order to help support safety efforts in the amusement ride community, ASTM International has announced two revisions to an amusement ride standard. Members of the ASTM International committee developed new requirements related to non-destructive testing inspections. The group also changed the standard from a guide to a practice, as a guide provides information or a series of options but does not recommend a specific course of action, whereas a practice provides instruction for performing specific operations. The revised practice for auditing amusement rides and devices now includes language
on requirements around inspector qualifications needed prior to doing non-destructive testing, including training and qualification records, written practices and procedures, equipment calibration records, and more.
