Morbid Manor
A great nostalgic ride, Morbid Manor came to Jolly Roger at the Pier, Ocean City, Maryland, in 2005. Built by Zuccini in 1979, it was one of less than 25 made. It traveled the Canadian fair circuit for many years in two trailers. It burned down in 1995 and was rebuilt before eventually arriving at Jolly Roger at the Pier in 2005 as the park’s third haunted house. It still uses the original 12 ride vehicles, capable of transporting 120 guests per hour. Inside are 13 gags, all powered pneumatically. The sign over the entrance urges visitors to ‘Stay at Ocean City’s Finest Hotel.’ It appears anything but. Inhabited by ghouls and zombies, it is guaranteed to not provide a good night’s rest.
Pirates Cove Pirates Cove was built in 1971 at Trimper’s Rides. Granville Trimper commissioned Bill Tracy to begin work on this attraction after he decided it was time to add a dark funhouse to his growing collection of rides. Trimper built a concrete facility to house this attraction on the backside of the park near its south entrance. Tracy did not miss a trick in this old fashioned funhouse. The lobby area is full of
floor obstacles like a draw bridge and moving ship deck. Inside is Tracy’s forced- perspective hallways, spinning tunnels, drunken pirates and even a mirror maze with strobe light. Above the entrance is the façade which towers over the rest of the park with Tracy’s Pirate and treasure chest. Trimper added the diorama with talking parrots to the façade in the late ‘80s. The side of the building is covered with fiberglass stone panels and the distinct heads of skeleton pirates. There is a crew member in the crows nest which can be seen at the park’s entrance about 30 feet (9 m) up. In 2006, the Trimper’s started to repaint the façade sign and background. It is important to note that nothing has been deleted from this original Tracy attraction. Over the years, the Trimper’s have added a few dioramas and minor effects and lighting, but it still remains one of the most complete Tracy funhouses left in America.
