inflatable play attraction. Let’s face it, it’s probably a lot safer than some other trampoline parks. “In August 2014 we’d launched ‘Jump Nation’, Europe’s largest trampoline arena, in Manchester,” explains Michelle Ball. “Other Jump Nation sites quickly followed in Runcorn, Cheshire, and Walsall, West Midlands. But by 2017 more and more indoor trampoline parks had been opened, with varying degrees of success. The entire concept of a trampoline park simply wasn’t as fresh as it once was.

purred on by the success of their trampoline business, Southport-based husband and wife team Michelle and Matt Ball decided to look for the next big thing in family fun. Together, they came up with the idea of an

Runcorn into ‘Inflata Nation Cheshire’. And we’re also actively franchising the Inflata brand. The first franchised site will launch in Birmingham in May this year. We hope it’s just the beginning of a nationwide roll-out, and beyond. “We’re extremely ambitious when it comes to franchising plans for Inflata

Nation, and have already had interest from America, Australia and Dubai. In terms of America, we’d ideally like to secure a series of master franchisors who’d then deal with the whole of the United States. the bulk of our visitors,” says Ball, but Inflata Nation also caters for birthday parties, stag and hen groups, as well as corporate events. “We offer structured ‘team games’ and pit teams against each other - and the clock - to determine who will take the ‘Inflata Crown’. We also have a cafe serving a range of hot and cold food and drinks.” But Ball is also aware of the need to deliver an all-round experience for families with higher expectations than ever.

New and exciting ideas are arriving with frequency in the attractions sector, but it’s not easy to come up with something functional and original. Inflata Nation, with its growing chain of inflatable play centres, may just be onto something. Ronnie Dungan finds out more…

So Matt and I started looking at alternatives. Having done our research, the idea of an inflatable theme park looked like a pretty unique concept.” In fact, they had invented an entirely new attraction – the first of its type in the UK when it launched in Manchester in October 2017. Along with new sites in Runcorn and Birmingham, Inflata Nation are beginning to roll out a franchised version of the business to interested parties. “In April this year we’ll also be converting our existing Jump Nation site in
