German park Belantis acquired by Parques Reunidos “Parques Reunidos has a strong track record in

arques Reunidos has acquired Leipzig based theme park Belantis. The Group already own Movie Park, also located in Germany, and
the new acquisition includes 27ha. of additional land that allows for expansion of the park. Belantis is accessible from Germany, Poland, and
the Czech Republic, and has eight different themed areas with 70 attractions, 13 restaurants, and two souvenir shops. The park also offers event programming, including themed parties, music events, and firework shows.
The Walking Dead: The Ride arrives at Thorpe Park
Thorpe Park has revealed details about its newest rollercoaster, The Walking Dead: The Ride. Inspired by the TV show, the ride features special effects and a replica of the watch tower and will be the UKs first multi-sensory and multi-part rollercoaster. Riders will travel through tunnels themed to bring the scenes from all seasons of The Walking Dead to life. The new rollercoaster is part of Thorpe Park’s year of The Walking Dead events. These attractions include the Living Nightmare Extreme live action maze, late night opening over the summer, Zombie Hunt activities on the outskirts of the resort, and the return of fright nights in October with a The Walking Dead theme. The Walking Dead: The Ride will open in Easter 2018 with more details to be released nearer the time.

Jim Button hops aboard at Europa-Park
Beginning early in the 2018 season, Europa-Park will welcome train driver Luke and best friend Jim Knopf from Michael Ende’s children’s books. Stationed in the German themed area of the park, Jim Button – Journey through Morrowland takes passengers past mountains and decorated houses and backdrops. Four passengers can board the train – named Emma – for a three-minute-long family themed trip.
All eight Mack Rides trains are equipped with steam and bells that can be
rung by the riders, and the attraction has been developed with cooperation from Warner Bros, Rat Pack, Malao, and Michael Ende to coincide with the theatrical release of Jim Button and Luke the Engine Driver from 29 March. “Michael Ende is a great storyteller who has created many worlds full of
poetry and adventure in his novels. For generations, the Mack family has been transforming fantasy worlds into exciting reality,” said Roman Hocke, representative of Michael Ende heirs community. Jim Button – Journey through Morrowland will open from 24 March 2018.
New family coaster comes to Twinlakes Park
Twinlakes Family theme park in Melton Mowbray UK has unveiled its newest spinning roller coaster, The Rum Runner. The £400,000 coaster is situated in the Buccaneers Zone within the 100-acre theme park, and is one of ten new rides and attractions Twinlakes Park has invested in as part of their 15 year anniversary celebration. Twinlakes has also welcomed a 60ft swing tower ride, The Excalibur, and five toddler rides, with more additions planned throughout the year. The Bendall brothers opened Twinlakes in 2003 and have invested over £20m since purchase. “Here at Twinlakes we continue to research and invest according to public demand, whether that’s events
like Peppa Pig or building the UK’s first Easter bunny Grotto,” said Sandy Gyorvari, park and marketing manager. “The Rum Runner’ family twisting roller coaster is a giggle ride, I first tried it a few years ago at a ride convention in America and it has been on my shopping list ever since, you just can’t help laughing and smiling while you’re on it, it’s such fun and after all that’s what we are here for!”
