Railblazer
The new hybrid design combines a steel running track on a massive wooden structure that provides an extremely smooth and comfortable ride while enabling the coaster’s trains to perform maneuvers previously unheard of on a wooden roller coaster. Steel Vengeance will offer riders high intensity through a relentless series of dynamic movements. Riders will board one of three trains and climb 205 feet (62 m) above FrontierTown. Once they crest the lift hill, they’ll be staring straight down a 90° initial drop and a 200-foot (61 m) fall to earth. Multiple airtime hills follow, including the world’s fastest airtime hill ever created on a hybrid roller coaster, and a 116 foot tall (35 m) outer- banked hill placing riders on an outward tilt while moving forward. Wood and steel intertwine into twisting barrel roll drops, dynamic inversions and gravity-defying weightlessness on Kings Dominion’s newest hybrid roller coaster, Twisted Timbers, set to open at the Doswell, Virginia, park.
Twisted Timbers is an innovative hybrid coaster that combines wood supports with a steel track to give riders an exhilarating experience with maneuvers previously impossible on a traditional wooden coaster. Features of the ride include a 109 foot (33 m) tall barrel roll drop, 3,351 feet (1,021 m) of track, a top speed of 54 mph (87 kph), three loops, three over-banked turns, and 20 airtime moments. Six Flags Fiesta Texas, San Antonio, will introduce the
world’s first single-rail and Wonder Woman themed Roller Coaster. Wonder Woman Golden Lasso Coaster. This 1,800 foot (549 m) long and 113-foot (34 m) tall new ride will feature a single I-beam rail Raptor coaster track from Rocky Mountain Construction that is only 15 ½ inches (39 cm) wide, a first-ever at Fiesta Texas. It will contain a 90° drop, three inversions, and three passenger coaster trains with riders seated single file. This unique new design gives riders an open-air, unobstructed view as they twist and turn above the 100 foot (30 m) quarry walls.
