e reporta que un grupo inversor brasileño impulsa un nuevo complejo de casino privado en Playa Mansa, en Punta del Este, Uruguay. Un estudio preliminar para la instalación del nuevo casino se encuentra a la espera del visto bueno del Ministerio de Economía y Finanzas de Uruguay, en lo que podría convertirse en el tercer casino del principal balneario del país. Mientras tanto en Chile, la Superintendencia de Casinos de Juego informó que el 19 de enero de 2026 se realizó la audiencia de presentación de ofertas técnicas y económicas para el permiso del casino correspondiente al cupo disponible para la comuna de Puerto Varas, en la Región de Los Lagos, donde se recibieron dos postulaciones por parte de las empresas: Inversiones y Turismo Puerto Varas S.A., y Sociedad Quiquilhue S.A. Según el proceso, la Etapa de Evaluación de las Ofertas Técnicas finalizaría a más tardar el viernes 10 de julio de 2026.
En lo que se refiere a las apuestas deportivas y juego online en Chile, al gremio británico, Betting and Gaming Council (BGC) ha firmado un Acuerdo de Cooperación con la Agrupación de Plataformas de Apuesta en Línea (aPAL), con el propósito de apoyar el desarrollo de un marco regulatorio sostenible y bien estructurado para el juego online en Chile. Ambos grupos son representativos de importantes empresas en sus países en ese sector, y vienen trabajando activamente para impulsar una regulación moderna en el país sudamericano.
En ICE Barcelona 2026, se pudo ver que Brasil se perfila como uno de los lideres globales em apuestas deportivas y juego online, y ahora, la Comisión de Deportes de la Cámara de Diputados de Brasil ha aprobado una propuesta legislativa que allana el camino para la inclusión de las distintas modalidades de rodeo y eventos ecuestres en el mercado regulado de apuestas online. Por otro lado, el Ministerio de Salud de Brasil ha publicado la Guía de Atención para las Personas con Problemas Relacionados con los Juegos de Azar, un documento que estructura la recepción, el seguimiento y el tratamiento de personas afectadas por las apuestas dentro del Sistema Único de Salud (SUS). La iniciativa reconoce formalmente el impacto de las apuestas —especialmente en el entorno digital— como un problema de salud pública, en respuesta al crecimiento sostenido de la demanda de atención sanitaria vinculada al juego patológico. e saw a report, early in the year, that a Brazilian investment group is promoting a new private casino complex in Punta del Este, Uruguay, where a preliminary study for the installation of the new casino is awaiting approval from Uruguay’s Ministry of Economy and Finance, in what could become the third casino in the country’s main resort.

Meanwhile in Chile, local regulators, Superintendencia de Casino de Juegos (SCJ) reported on January 19, 2026, on the hearing for the presentation of technical and economic offers for the casino operation permit corresponding to the available quota for Puerto Varas, in Los Lagos Region. Two applications were received, from the companies Inversiones y Turismo Puerto Varas S.A., and Sociedad Quiquilhue S.A. According to the process, the Technical Bid Evaluation Stage should end no later than Friday, July 10, 2026.
As far as sports betting and online gambling in Chile is concerned, the British guild, Betting and Gaming Council (BGC) has signed a Cooperation Agreement with Chile’s Association of Online Betting Platforms (aPAL), with the purpose of supporting the development of a sustainable and well-structured regulatory framework for online gambling in Chile. Both groups are representatives of important companies in this sector in their countries and have been actively working to promote modern regulation in the South American country. During ICE Barcelona 2026 in January, it was possible to see how Brazil is emerging as one of the global leaders in sports betting and online gambling. Now the Sports Commission of the Brazilian Chamber of Representatives has approved a legislative proposal that paves the way for the inclusion of the different modalities of rodeo and equestrian events in the local regulated online betting market. Also in Brazil, the Ministry of Health has published the Guide to Care for People with Gambling-Related Problems, a document that structures the reception, monitoring and treatment of people afflicted by gambling problems, as part of the Unified Health System (SUS). The initiative formally recognises the impact of gambling – especially in the digital environment – as a public health issue, in response to the sustained growth in demand for healthcare linked to pathological gambling. Our report below reports on the growth of the gambling market in the country.
