Sylmar Technology looks forward to introducing new and inspiring products in 2021

predicted a trend shift towards veining, both subtle and striking. He recognised the desire for materials to be influenced by the natural world, such as the paler tones of natural stone and the distinctive patterns of marble. Knowing that veining was only available in quartz,

porcelain and laminate, Sylmar Technology embarked on a new journey in product development that enabled the creation of new technologies in the manufacture of solid surface material. Their innovative approach made possible the impossible by replicating the natural veining of marble in solid surface with stunning effect. The result was an industry first. It looks like

marble, it feels like marble, yet minerva Calcutta White solid surfaces come with none of the disadvantages of natural marble. For the first time, Sylmar Technology offered a décor with veining that flows naturally and uniquely throughout the surface of the worktop. At the end of 2019, Sylmar Technology

launched minerva Calcutta White along with the new minerva Haze collection, featuring Travertine Haze, Silver Haze and Concrete Haze. All 4 décors take inspiration from the natural world and offer a truly special décor with a unique signature look. As we near the end of the year, there’s no

doubt that the unforeseen events of 2020 have slowed the penetration of the predicted décor

trends within the kitchen and bathroom sector. Thankfully, minerva Calcutta White goes from strength to strength with many UK entry level and high-end kitchen and bathroom retailers making Calcutta White their first choice for showroom displays. We look forward now to a return to normal when all showrooms can be fully open and customers can realise the full impact of the new décors in their kitchen designs. Looking ahead to 2021, with the absence of

events and exhibitions during 2020, it is harder than ever to predict with any certainty the trends for the coming years. However, what is clear is that Terrazzo inspired designs have already been used commercially, in particular in the recent makeovers of luxury department stores such as Selfridges and Harrods. It is likely that Terrazzo inspired designs will appear in the domestic kitchen and bathroom markets. It is predicted that lighter tones will continue to be popular along

continues to innovate, both in manufacturing technologies and décor design. With a number of developments about to reach fruition, 2021 will be an important year for the roll-out of new products that are sure to excite and inspire designers and consumers alike.
