The new remote/hybrid workforce has now fully adopted this way of life, but what can be done to fine-tune this modern work culture? Simon Morris, VP of Solution Consulting UK&I at ServiceNow has some answers.

remote/hybrid workforce infrastructure? Organisations need to ensure that all workers, whether remote or in-person, enjoy a consistent employee experience. Hybrid environments carry the risk of creating a two-tier workplace, with uneven power dynamics between those remote workers and those in the office. Harvard Business Review warns that such


two-tier experiences can “damage relationships, impede effective collaboration, and ultimately result in reduced performance.” It is therefore crucial that companies focus on inclusivity and create experiences that are the same for everyone. Managers and business leaders must ensure their remote workforce can access the resources they need as quickly as those in the office. Te risk of getting this wrong in the rush to find new ways of working can be severe. Our social norms during in-person

meetings, for example, must be completely different to accommodate remote attendees. It is easier to run a 100% remote meeting than it is to balance the needs of hybrid attendees. And I have also experienced the frustration


of being in the minority of remote attendees struggling for relevance in the bustle of a high- energy in-person meeting room. Not having my voice heard was a moment of disengagement for me – not only disengaged from the topic being discussed but also from the team itself. Tese are fundamentally capability challenges.


Part-people, part process and part tool and certainly cultural as well.


What challenges are you seeing repeatedly come up and how can these be addressed? One of the key challenges is to simplify employee


experiences - far too oſten, staff are greeted with too many internal siloes, apps and portals and are offered inconsistent and irrelevant information when trying to work remotely. Tis makes it harder to
