working and extensive use of the cloud can mean misconfigured accounts and systems, weak passwords, and more vulnerabilities. Te number of devices and networks that are being used to access work files has significantly increased as staff are using both work and personal devices – and from unsecured or unknown networks at times. Not only does this increase the risk of a successful attack and data theſt, it’s far more difficult for businesses to monitor agents on home devices. Insecure endpoints and use of public networks means businesses
will struggle to evaluate their full IT environment. Teir security plan should take this into account, with endpoint protection, patch management, password management, and backup and recovery all tailored to a distributed workforce and protecting sensitive data long term. It all comes down to building a posture of security that has you adequately prepared for the worst-case scenario while setting you up for better recovery and success not if, but when, it happens.”

What or where are the strengths/weaknesses currently in this marketplace? John Pagliuca, CEO, N-able: “Like all businesses, our MSP partners are facing some economic turbulence due to a number of national and international factors. Meaning it’s time to hit the books. Understand the debt structure – what’s fixed, what’s variable? Mitigate costs now and focus on the bottom line; if not done properly, this could be the equivalent of just one bad hire. Most importantly, plan now for 2023. Consider securing additional financing, if there’s a need, and communicate future benefits with your customers. As the saying goes, if you fail to plan, you can plan to fail. “But while the overall climate may be uncertain, the headwinds
that MSPs face can easily be turned into tailwinds with the right perspective. “Security Treats can be shiſted to an enormous revenue
opportunity if the value is clearly communicated. Technology and cloud complexities can be addressed with automation and standardisation as this can make these game changers for scalability. Labor shortages: Co-managed is a huge win for MSPs now as internal IT departments are not only seeking help, but looking at ways to optimise their own operations.”
