UK cycling industry launches e-bike battery safety campaign


THE UK cycling sector has joined forces for the biggest-ever national campaign to boost electric bike battery safety knowledge, inform more people of the benefits of e-cycling, and encourage consumers to buy with confidence. The E-Bike Positive campaign will


share the positive effects of e-cycling and equip the UK public to buy safe, charge safe and ride safe on e-bikes. As well as advising the government on how to better protect UK consumers and businesses, the E-Bike Positive campaign will help people identify high-quality, legal e-bike products through free resources including: expert support, educational resources and extra assurance.


New research by the Electric Bike Alliance shows that concerns over battery fires deter a significant portion of the population from choosing to purchase or travel by e-bike


In addition, a new survey of UK bike shop staff has found that this issue is significantly affecting cycling businesses on local high streets throughout the


country: 95% of staff have heard concerns from prospective customers about battery fires, with 25% stating that they believe this has harmed their business. Core members of the Electric Bike Alliance include Cycling UK, The Bicycle Association, The Association of Cycle Traders and Bosch eBike Systems.

Saddleback to distribute Rudy Project in the UK and Ireland


SADDLEBACK has announced the addition of Rudy Project to its portfolio of products.


The Italian brand is best- known for sport-specific sunglasses and helmets and has recently expanded its operation to include performance and lifestyle prescription eyewear. Richard Mardle, Saddleback brand director, said: “Our focus will be on rebuilding the strength of the brand in the UK and Irish markets as Rudy Project embarks on a new path of performance innovation in multi-sport eyewear and helmets.” 

Gore Wear restarts UK and Ireland distribution


GORE Wear is set for a restart in the UK and Ireland. Following a global


restructure of its distribution in 2019, the brand is re-opening retail accounts in the UK and Ireland, teaming up with a new sales and marketing agent. Jon Pettifor has been appointed to represent the brand as an independent sales agent in both markets. Retained retailers Sigma Sport and Run For It have carried


the brand through the company’s period of change and Gore Wear is now looking to expand its network by attracting dedicated specialist cycling and running stores. 
