BikeBiz speaks to Ross Harben, marketing manager at Bridgedale


Can you give us some background on Bridgedale Socks?


Bridgedale is a sock company and we only make socks. Our aim is to make the best possible socks for the customers who buy them and this has been our focus for over 100 years. We are best known for making technical socks for use during outdoor activities and are probably most famous for our walking socks. In recent years though we have also successfully developed sport specific socks for trail running and, now, for off road bike riding. However, this is why we emphasise the fact that we’re a sock maker not just an outdoor clothing company. When we design a sock, we always start by finding out what the


end user actually needs and wants first and then develop products that perform how the user wants them to. Our experience and technical knowledge allows us to produce socks specific to these needs for each market. For bike riders, anyone out and about on a bike could wear our socks and immediately feel the benefits. However the Bridgedale Off Road Bike range is primarily aimed at riders who are out for an adventure whether that’s on gravel, cross- country mountain biking or on a bike-packing trip. They are designed for all day comfort and protection. Regardless of how or what people wear them for though, we want our socks to help people stay comfortable, stay out longer and travel further. We want to help them enjoy and experience more in complete comfort.
