And just like that, this edition of BikeBiz marks my last as editor. It’s a bittersweet thing to write as I exit stage left out of the bike industry and take up a


new opportunity in communications after just over a year as editor, and nearly two years as part of this well-respected magazine. Throughout my time, I have been overwhelmed by the passion from all of the individuals within the cycling industry. Given my tenure has coincided with some very choppy waters, that is a testament to everyone within the space; from retailers to distributors to brands who are continuing to push forward with worthy innovations, new approaches to business and unique initiatives to get more people through the door. While it is difficult to pinpoint just one highlight, the very successful return of the BikeBiz


Awards in-person at the end of October was a special evening (P11 for a round up of the winners). The Awards showcase the very best of what this industry has to offer. It shines a light on every sector, from some of the biggest businesses, to the many


under-represented groups, giving an equal platform to the efforts of those who often go under the radar. Advocacy groups and diversity champions are set to play an even more crucial role for the


long-term sustainability of this industry, especially as the bike becomes a more important mode of transport in the face of the climate crisis. While it may have been a turbulent few years, I am confident the bike trade will prevail and come out the other side stronger than ever before – largely thanks to the individuals within it. I will certainly be supporting you all from afar.
