DISTRIBUTOR

‘WE ARE A FAMILY BUSINESS AND WE NEVER WANT TO LOSE THAT PERSONAL TOUCH’

We are not interested in selling cheap or low quality products. We wouldn’t sell a customer anything we don’t use ourselves. We are a loyal company both to our suppliers and

customers. Some of the brands we represent we have done so from the very beginning of our journey, for example EBC Brakes – we are one of their largest distributors in the UK. I’d also like to think that once a customer comes on board with us, they do so on a long term basis and are happy with the level of service we offer.

Why did you decide to expand into the cycling industry? It definitely is a case of ‘natural progression’. Some of the brands we represent in the motorcycle industry already had products suitable for the cycling industry (EBC Brakes, LiquiMoly Lubricants and Technomouss Tyre inserts). Plus we have seen more and more of our motorcycle dealers purchasing cycling products.

This has been particularly noticeable with the increase in popularity and availability of e-bikes and indeed some motorcycle manufacturers adding e-bikes to their range. As an individual, I’m very much passionate about two and four wheels. Having recently become a father for the first time, I’m seeing my daughter develop an interest in two wheels/ bikes, she loves her trike and has just got her first balance bike for her 2nd birthday. As a family we have e-bikes and love getting outdoors in general.

Being in the Scottish Borders too really helps, with some wonderful places to get out onto two wheels. It is very important to me and also to us as a business

to expand our activities in the cycling industry. It feels like a very important step for our company’s future and also at an environmental level. I have nothing but positive feelings about being part of this market and hopefully contributing to it.

What brands do you represent and what opportunities do they present? At the moment, EBC Brakes, LiquiMoly Lubricants and Cleaning Products and Technomousse Tyre Inserts. Although we have a few other exciting discussions going on in the background with some other brands looking for representation in the cycling sector.

I genuinely believe there is a tremendous opportunity ahead with these products alone. As a business – and personally as an individual – we are trying to improve our efficiencies, be kinder to the environment, reduce our carbon footprint and implement positive change wherever we can. The cycling market has huge potential for us and if the sales of our cycle range to the motorcycle market is anything to go by, we are barely scratching the surface of the volume of business we could be achieving.

What feedback have you received so far? We are at the very early stages of our entry into the cycling sector.

Although having said that, we have had an extremely positive response as to the quality of the brands we represent, as well as ourselves in terms of our customers feeling they have a positive experience working with us.
