Furthermore, he highlighted that “ongoing training is essential,” because “markets change rapidly, and customer expectations evolve, especially       “even those with 30 or 40 years of experience         industry stakeholders—manufacturers, retailers, and analysts—to “come together, share expertise and collaborate, to make a real impact.”

Mr Laville concluded by invoking the potential of industry gatherings: “Imagine what we could achieve if we use events like the Clarity Conference to help customers realise how much better sound can be, upgrading a TV, sound system, or headphones. It’s about showing them what’s possible and giving them a reason to buy from us instead of settling for what they already have.”

Sustainable benefits

Meanwhile, Matt Renault, Managing Director of Dacomboes of Wimborne, shared practical insights on sustainability during a segment with Veteran Tech and Retail Journalist, Sean Hannam. “Rising energy costs, peaking at around £2,500 a month, forced me to act,” he recounted. He secured a government grant, which covered 50 per cent of the cost, and installed “100 solar panels, a Tesla battery, and two EV chargers,” transforming his business into a partly off-grid operation. The installation, completed over two days at a cost of       reliance on the grid.

Mr Renault explained that “the system produces enough energy during the day to meet our needs,” and “on good days, we generate more than we use.” His energy management includes timers, LED lighting, and programmed controls to cut consumption, which has resulted in savings and credits with his energy provider.. He emphasised that “promoting sustainability helps build customer trust,” as “people want to buy from businesses doing their part,” and that “sustainability is a bit of a fashion, but it’s also practical.” His advice was straightforward: “Start small, do an energy audit, ask for grants, and implement simple measures like timers and LED lighting.” He acknowledged that “few retailers have embraced large-scale solar or electric vehicles,” mainly due to high costs, electric vans can cost around £30,000 to £35,000. “It’s still early days,” he said, but he sees the potential for growth. “Customers care about sustainability,” he added, “and supporting eco-friendly practices helps build trust and create good PR.” He plans to upgrade his  money on energy bills is the main motivation.”
