WINNING MULTIPLE

Audience,

Audience, Broad Street

Broad Street

Richer Sounds, York Place, London Road

This was the chain’s 50th store in the UK and is located on London Road, one of the main roads in and out of the city. After streaming for the last few years, I wanted to get a CD player, so that I could listen to the thousands of CDs I have amassed over the years. Inside the store, Hayden said that he would show me products at different price points. The first product he presented was a CD player from Cambridge Audio (AXC35), priced at £349. For the second model, Hayden presented another CD player from Cambridge Audio (CXC), priced at £499. He said that without an onboard DAC, the power supply only has to drive the CD transport. By being dedicated to this task it can provide a clean, stable power supply for the highest performance possible at its price, he said.

Hayden closed by asking whether I’m a member of the retailer’s VIP Club – he said that by signing up, I’d get £10 off my first purchase over £100, and I’d also qualify for the six-year guarantee.

Hayden was on great form; he really explained the differences – and similarities – of the products he presented, but he also explained more about the technology inside the products. The store was well presented.

Coopers Home Appliances, Walcot Street

Located in the city centre, this store is directly opposite a large multi-storey underground car park, and it serves Bath and Bristol, as well as surrounding areas including Somerset, Wiltshire and Gloucestershire.

I was looking to buy a new vacuum cleaner. Inside the store, I was greeted by Mandi, who asked if I needed any help. Using a computer, Mandi showed me two Sebo models. The first model she showed me was the Airbelt K1 Pro ePower (92662GB) cylinder vacuum cleaner, which was priced at £319.

Mandi highlighted that the cleaner comes with a five-year manufacturer guarantee, and a great range of attachments. For the upright model, Mandi recommended the Automatic X7 Pro ePower upright vacuum cleaner, which was priced at £449. This model comes with a five-year manufacturer guarantee, and its attachments include a dusting brush, crevice tool and clamp and upholstery nozzle. Mandi said that she could, typically, get the vacuum cleaner within four days.

Mandi was on good form and able to talk me through the features and benefits of both models; the store was well presented – its location means it’s probably one of the most walked passed stores in the city.

This Hi-Fi store is situated on the hilly Broad Street, and can be found between ladies clothes shop, Boho, and a Mandarin Stone showroom. Having tried streaming music before the pandemic, and annoyed by a previous poor Wi-Fi provider, I wanted to give it another go. Inside the store, I was greeted by Iain, who asked if I needed any help. I explained my previous attempt at streaming in and I gave him the details of the products I used then. Iain presented the Bluesound range to me; he asked which rooms in the house I would be looking to have products in. I said that I’d like to start in the living room and then move to my bedroom and my office. He said the system is really versatile and that with a system in various rooms, each room could play the same thing, or something different. Iain said the Bluesound VAULT 2i is a popular CD ripper and streamer that can store thousands of tracks on its 2Tb internal hard drive, allowing users to easily rip their CDs. Looking at products, Iain mentioned an amplified model, which I could link to existing speakers, is priced at £799. He said the Bluesound speakers are priced £299, £549 and £849. Iain advised me to produce a list of what

rooms I wanted to include, and how I wanted the system to work in each room. He explained that downloading the app and following the instruction would make set-up straightforward, and part of that process would include signing in to my streaming platforms, including Spotify.
