Shopfloor TAKE A TOWN Bath 38

Sales skills: 5/5

Moss of Bath, St James’ Parade For this issue, ERT’s team of mystery shoppers visited,

and assessed, eight stores across Bath.

Founded by Frank Moss in 1962, Moss of Bath originally sold small electrical appliances and black and white televisions; more than 60 years on, Frank’s son Tim is now at the helm. I was looking to buy a new TV for my living

room; inside the store, Matt said that the store sells TVs from Loewe, Panasonic and Sony. I said that a 55in set would be ideal. Matt presented a 55in Panasonic TV (TV55Z85), which was priced at £1,099. He explained that this is an OLED model, which he

said is a top of the range technology. He said the TV comes with a five-year warranty, and “all the apps you can think of”, including Now TV, Apple TV, Netflix, Prime Video, and Alexa. Matt concluded his presentation by telling me the post-sales options. “We can deliver it to you, free of charge, but if you want us to come in, set it up, tune it, connect it to the internet, download the apps, and log you into all your apps, then we charge £99.50,” Matt said.

WINNING INDEPENDENT

Store presentation: 5/5

Total score: 10/10

Matt was on great form; he knew the TV that would best suit my needs and he attempted to close the sale several times; the store looked great, both inside and out.
