UK. The milestone was marked by the opening of Anytime Fitness Paignton and demonstrates the sustained prosperity that its franchisees are enjoying in the thriving fi tness industry – one that has seen market value soar to almost £5billion in 2018.* Exceeding 9.9 million members, gym membership is also at an all-time high of 14.9 per cent, meaning that one in every seven people in the UK now belongs to a gym or fi tness centre. operator in the UK, Anytime Fitness has opened 100 clubs in the last three years. It boasts an eclectic network of franchisees, ranging from experienced fi tness industry professionals to those with no experience in the sector, showcasing the strength of the brand and the support available. Paignton’s Emma and Simon Wright
are a case in point; the club is the couple’s fi rst, yet they already have two more in the pipeline. Working with the central Anytime Fitness support offi ce, a successful presale saw Anytime Fitness Paignton recruit close to 500 members by the time it opened its doors. Emma and Simon should be on target to recoup their initial investment. CEO Stuart Broster comments: “Reaching 150 clubs in the UK is a fantastic achievement and we’re delighted to be giving so many ambitious entrepreneurs the platform to run a successful business. I’ve made no secret of the fact that I want Anytime Fitness to become the biggest health-club operator in the UK and we’ve got a great support offi ce team and network of franchisees to achieve this. New franchisees also now have the
option of a 10-year franchise agreement. This is up from the previous maximum term offer of fi ve years. The move allows franchisees a longer timescale to establish their clubs and to recover their initial

investment. The Anytime Fitness banking partners were instrumental in the decision, with NatWest recommending this positive move to provide additional support to the growing franchisee network. Mark Scott, franchise development manager at NatWest, says: “NatWest has been working with Anytime Fitness and fi nancing their franchisees since they began trading the UK. We recently recommended an increased term option on the franchise agreement, which is great news for the franchisees and the bank. The reduced monthly payments, compared to a fi ve- year agreement, will enable franchisees to generate more cash that can be used for future expansion plans.” How can you become part of the
Anytime Fitness family? Opening a club with Anytime Fitness requires a minimum
investment of £170,000 liquid capital. Prospective franchisees can benefi t from a very attractive fi xed franchise fee and a proven model with a global success rate of 96 per cent. With comprehensive training and
customised ongoing support from dedicated franchise consultants, it’s easy to see why 60 per cent of franchisees have gone on to own another club! l
