n 2017, Steve Abbott was made redundant from the job he'd worked in for 32 years. It was an event that gave him the opportunity to reevaluate how he wanted to work. Steve says: “I had worked for a large


corporation, primarily in sales, and I loved my job, but over time it had changed as red

tape and politics took over, making it a less enjoyable working environment. "Having been made redundant, I applied


for a new job without realising that it was a franchise role. When I looked deeper into it, however, I saw that franchising was a great fi t for me.” Steve has always been passionate about


customer engagement and the buzz of making a sale, and there was something about InXpress that clicked with him. “I was drawn to how the business is IT-based and can be operated from literally anywhere and I was also attracted by the residual income element. At fi rst I thought it was too good to be true, but as I spoke with InXpress franchisees, it was clear this was a real and valid income stream, achievable after the initial sale and with the ongoing development of my client relationships.” Almost two years later, Steve has enjoyed


the challenge of competing with his fellow franchisees and building his own business. He concludes: “It’s been hard work, but I have a huge sense of satisfaction! I love the fact I am no longer hindered by bureaucracy – I deal with customers in my time.
