determination to maximise every opportunity to succeed, rather than hitching your wagon to the ‘rising star’ of a particular industry. Simply joining a franchise in a growing sector does not mean that success will happen by itself. You still have to work in line with a proven business model and at Caremark we help you to do just that. You need to identify franchisors in your chosen sector who have
tried-and-tested business models and then decide which one you think matches your ethos and expectations of a business. Your own success will be the outcome of your determination and the
work of your team around you. Plus your franchisor will be guiding and supporting you to achieve the growth both you and they expect. It is worth remembering, too, that every franchisor has a vested interest in seeing its network of franchisees develop into profi table and successful enterprises. This is good for the brand overall and will also benefi t you.

What exactly is a 'management fra nchise'?
u A management franchise is one where the franchisee provides the management expertise working within a proven business format. In a franchise where the franchisee is the sole operator,
the potential size of this business will be limited by his or her own capacity to do the work. A good management franchise on the other hand, will offer the opportunity to build a substantial, profi table business and a valuable asset. Some examples of management franchises are McDonalds, KFC and, of course, Minster Cleaning Services. In a management franchise, you will be overseeing
all areas of the business, which may include fi nance, operational management, administration, IT and
marketing, so it is important that you receive appropriate training. A management franchise should have established systems in place to help you with these day- to-day business activities that will be more complex than in a single operator franchise. Management franchises will typically employ relatively
large numbers of people. Half of Minster franchisees have each built up businesses with sales of more than £1million and the top branches have each achieved annual turnover in excess of £2million. These can have upwards of 200 employees, so people-management skills are essential attributes for franchisees but they also need to be dynamic, self-motivated and resilient. l
