Journey to success

ONE YEAR ON…

A significant milestone for Tezlom’s ia aua

M

y business, Tezlom Reading, launched on 7 June 2021 – it’s the day my life changed forever and my new future started to take shape! In

the last 12 months I have: achieved a long-held dream of business ownership, balanced being a mum and entrepreneur, supported other working mums back into the healthcare profession, recruited a team of over 60 dedicated care staff, built a 15-strong client base … and made my dad proud! Having studied nursing in India, I came to the UK in

2010 to complete my master’s in Advanced Nursing, before achieving a lifelong goal of working in the NHS, eventually as a clinical nurse specialist. Sadly, a back injury forced me to leave this role I loved. After recovery, I worked briefl y in a private clinic but knew, in my heart, what my next step should be. And here I am! What I’ve loved most about the last year… Getting to

spend time with my son, managing my own time for maximum impact in every area of my life, the enormous sense of pride in my business, recapturing my drive and passion for life, being an ambassador and a champion who stands up for my staff, creating a business where people truly want to work – existing staff refer new staff! – and getting great feedback publicly on Google Reviews! Meeting new people from the same beloved fraternity and still being recognised as a nurse and seen as a colleague and an equal within my industry. Already, Tezlom Reading has a reputation as a

different kind of agency, run by people who genuinely care. That goes for how our care staff think of us as much as it does our clients. I pride myself on supporting working mums and young workers to either stay within, or enter, a profession they wouldn’t normally be able to access. As well as those who, for whatever reason, can’t conform to a 9-5 or full-time career. It’s my belief that

the needs of my staff matter as much as the needs of my clients. A person with existing commitments and requirements ‘outside’ of the workplace norm can still be an exceptionally valuable member of the team and deserves a chance to thrive and grow. This resonates perfectly with one of the six core value pillars of Tezlom: Equality. Developing young care staff and empowering them professionally, into bigger and better career prospects has been a strong focus for me, even as I build my business.

“I’ve an enormous sense of pride in my Tezlom business … it’s recaptured my drive and passion for life”

As well as being an ethical stance, this is also a sound business strategy, developing a loyal and trusted team of staff with Tezlom values at heart strengthens my position in the market and reduces staff turnover and attrition. I’m incredibly proud of what I’ve accomplished in the last 12 months – the stats speak for themselves: 1185% growth in 2022! I now rank 4th in the entire Tezlom network. Year 1 turnover is 100% higher than a Tezlom franchisee’s average year 4. My focus now is on the next 12 months and beyond. I

plan to deliver 1,500 hours of care per week, expanding our reach across the region. Continuing to mentor and develop my team, provide an exceptional service to our clients and support my fellow franchisees in our collective mission to make personal placements that change lives. l
