he very fabric of the Tezlom brand is built on family – it started as a small family-run business in 2008

and many Tezlom franchises are now run by couples or family members. It can be the ideal business to be involved in as a family or couple, as the range of day-to- day operations – from administrative, to compliance, to communications, embrace a wide range of skills that each side can bring to the table. Lesley Jackson runs the Doncaster

territory with her daughter Becs and says they work well together as she is more focused on problem-solving while Becs brings a direct approach. As a business focused on providing healthcare and working with the elderly, there’s an emotional investment too, so it can be helpful to be supported in the business by someone you trust and know well. Kevin Fitzpatrick and his wife Carol

previously worked in engineering and nursing respectively and their Tezlom franchise covers the Glasgow, Sterling and Lanarkshire regions. “We liked the feel of a family business,

and we were attracted by the support that Tezlom offered us. I've learned a lot from Kevin about the business side and how to be organised and stay on top of things,” says Carol. “it's fair to say, we're very compatible and we both get along very well.” She adds that good communication is essential to the smooth running of the business, even when you are working with family. It’s also important to have downtime and not talk business 24/7. For Samuel Smith and his wife, running

a Tezlom franchise has not only given them the opportunity to start and run a

business together, but has also helped to instil an ‘anything’s possible’ mindset within their children. Sam previously worked for a bus company and the husband-and-wife team now run the Tonbridge territory. “It was always a dream to run our

own business. We went to the Franchise Exhibition for about three or four years, looking at different companies, different businesses. Family is a big thing for both me and my wife. We jumped into Tezlom, thought it was the best option for us, their ethos and everything they stood for was really great.” Sam has brought his children to the

explains Jai, who has a background in property consultancy. “We wanted something that would be recession proof. We liked the whole model of Tezlom in that it wasn't a huge corporate entity, and we liked the setup of the headquarters. Previously, I was doing everything on my own. It was a very lonely business. We have bought into a community, we feel well supported, we feel part of a network, part of a family.” l
