What did you do before franchising? “I had a 20-year career in the wine industry. It was an interesting job but totally exhausting. Also, I was really starting to wonder if this was really the most rewarding thing I could be doing.”


Why did you consider franchising and why with Caremark? “In October 2019 I was unexpectedly made redundant. A friend of mine who is now a successful Caremark franchisee, told me about the franchise exhibition at the NEC. I initially looked at food and drink franchises but they didn’t appeal. However, homecare definiel did arear sd  r the others because of their quality and integrity. There was no hard sell. Quite the opposite in fact. They wanted me to be  cnfiden and a a  as ding the right thing.”


What prompted this decision? “Following redundancy, I wanted to do something for myself and something more personally rewarding. Franchising offered more security and stability than going into business on my own.”


What job satisfaction does it provide? Even though I launched my business in a pandemic, through hard work Caremark Warwick has grown consistently month on month. We have already collected two accolades: one from Caremark – the Milestone Award for reaching 500 hours and more recently a local business award for New Business of the Year which is anasic igeen ns n and  enjoying the satisfaction of seeing my dream become a reality. Plus, I enjoy a better work/life balance.

How was the training and support, both initially and ongoing? A positive experience. There was a lot to learn but it was good fun as well. In addition, I have the expertise of my Regional Support Manager to tap into. This is another level of solid support all franchisees have access to, and it is really helpful, especially in the early days.


What are your plans for the future of the business? To keep growing and expanding our care service. We are on track to reach our target of delivering over 1000 hours per week by the middle of this year which is exciting. I’ve come a long way since October 2019 and so glad I made this choice.
