A D A Y I N T H E L I F E A clean report
John Bate on the day-to-day running of his inster leaning fra nchise

I check emails and banking at home. I live 35 miles r e fi ce s is gives ie r rafi c die down before my journey as well as preparing me for any issues that have arisen since the previous day.
9.30AM – 10.30AM:
One of the things that I love is that there's no such thing as a typical day; every day is different in many ways. The main challenges arise from the management and supervision of 100+ cleaning operatives, so people-management skills are essential. First, I check to see if any cleaners haven’t turned in for any reason and then make sure that relief cover is put in place. Our aim is to be the preferred choice in our area so it is important that we make sure that our clients have no reason to be dissaisfi ed in an a.
10.30AM – 12.00:
Commercial cleaning is an essential business service and a massive, multi-billion-pound market in the UK and the East Midlands has a huge number of small- to medium-sized businesses so we’ve always got plenty of quotes on the go. I phone round prospective cliens fi nd i eve een sccessl r i e need anything more before making a decision. We’ve done well in the healthcare sector since
the requirement for primary medical services to be registered with the Care Quality Commission. Minster Cleaning’s knowledge of implementing cleaning regimes and practices that comply with CQC requirements has proved invaluable.
12.00 – 2PM
Lunch with a sandwich at my desk gives me the opportunity to chat with colleagues and take care of any outstanding admin such as checking internal stock orders and making sure equipment is all up to date and operational.
4PM – 5PM:
Although Minster Cleaning’s systems take care of much of the day-to-day business, I like to oversee the fi nancial side is an area ve een clsel invlved with in previous roles. I usually manage to leave the fi ce srl aer and se e drive e to think about the day’s business and plan for the following day. Sometimes, if we’ve been really busy during the day, I will take work home after which I settle down for a well-earned glass of wine. l

2PM - 4PM:
I spend this time visiting prospective clients to gather all the information that we need to put together a comprehensive quotation. We have many ancillary services to offer and can provide a one-stop shop for anything cleaning related.
