CAVA GUARD “A
fter service in the army I joined the security industry in London working in sales for
Group 4 Security. After moving companies over 20 years, I gradually moved into more operational roles and appointments at director level. Then, in 2011, I decided to manage
my own business and make my own decisions because I had the experience and confidence to believe I could make a success of it. In seeking ideas, including visiting a franchise exhibition, I came across Cava Guard and the opportunity to invest in a franchise business in the area where I live just south of London. The appeal was the opportunity
to concentrate on sales and building the business, backed up by an established brand with the support infrastructure necessary – such as a control room operation which is expensive for a small business starting out. However, it was also the assistance with time-consuming admin – invoicing, for example – and crucial HR and operational advice (plus access to backup support) that drew me to Cava Guard. The time saved allowed me
to focus on sales and to run my business. Sales were helped by using the established Cava Guard brand

with literature and a professional up-to-date website. There was also an initial and comprehensive training programme held at Head Office in Redditch so that I could understand and manage the necessary practices and procedures for the range of services Cava Guard offers. This training has often been updated at franchise meetings held in Redditch, regionally or in Zoom meetings. Over the first few months of my
business – largely spent developing contacts, sales opportunities and training – my first customers signed up for key holding and manned guarding contracts. Since then I have developed a profitable business employing my own workforce. No two days are the same and the greatest satisfaction I get is knowing that I make my own decisions and get a real buzz from winning new customers and managing my staff. Plus I have the flexibility to make my work-life balance suit me. So if someone has the desire
to be their own boss and is willing to commit to their franchise they too can enjoy the financial benefits and the satisfaction of running their own business. It is rewarding in many ways.” Andrew, Greater London franchisee
