by Elly Stemerdink The trade shows

With the unveiling of the A/W 24/25 collections in the first week of March, Premiere Classe marked its 35th edition. Among the brands that have been participating from the start and were present again this time was the Italian manufacturer Grevi. Besides long-time exhibitors, returning brands, such as Stephen Jones Millinery, were welcomed back after several years of absence.

The trends

Brands are increasingly embracing basic shapes, with a focus on high-quality materials, comfort, and meticulous attention to detail. Moreover, a touch of sparkle in daily wear introduces a subtle yet significant flair. Embroidered accessories, especially those adorned with metallic threads, bring a heightened level of sophistication and luxury to headwear. Sequins and pearls

also contribute a playful shimmer and refined elegance to a wide array of designs, from casual beanies to more formal pieces. The baseball cap has been elevated to a high-fashion staple across all brand collections, illustrating the fading boundaries between casual and luxury styles. The beret, with its enduring charm, seamlessly integrates into various styles, from simple wool versions for warmth to elaborately decorated ones. Despite the ongoing rise in the cost of felt bodies, felt hats remain popular among buyers, resulting in a broad selection of hats and caps in the collections, often adorned with trimmings made from the same material.
