EVENT Exhibition Hat by Vesna Pesic (UK)

Hat by Paul Stafford (Ireland)

Morley Gallery, a purpose-built studio space next to Morley College, also provided the ideal location for the official LHW22 exhibition. Titled ‘Community Ahead’, this year’s exhibition was curated by the LHW founders Georgina and Becky themselves, which gave them the chance to do something that had been on their wish list for some time – to unite the millinery world a bit more. International millinery/hat associations were invited to send work created by their members. Also included were alumni work from Kensington & Chelsea and Morley College millinery students, historical pieces from Wardown House Museum in Luton, contemporary images from Hat Works museum in Stockport, and pieces from finalists of the 2022 HATalk Competition. This resulted in an exciting display of more than 130 hats and headpieces, which visibly demonstrated the diversity in aesthetics between milliners from different countries.
