vendors, with mutual dependence. Any delays or change in priorities adds additional complexity to cascade these changes through the supply chain. There are many moving pieces here, and the ability of a supply chain to quickly cope with change requires smart automation and not static, fi xed, hard-coded processes with a linear paradigm. It is time to take control of the supply chain and manage a multi-vendor global operation through automation.
What are the biggest
challenges facing the media and entertainment industry? Content enterprises are bustling solving supply chain challenges, driven by the need for velocity in a demand-driven world. With the massive increase in the number of originals, the supply chain challenges across theatrical, home entertainment and streaming businesses have multiplied. As a result, co-ordination across vendors globally to meet launch windows and be in control has been challenging. While the launch window appears to be permanently shrinking, there is a need to execute multiple downstream activities across locations at speed across multiple
How is your company helping its customers to address the challenges faced by the media and entertainment industry? Leveraging its SaaS platform Clear, PFT built a one-of-its-kind, dynamic priority-led multi-vendor Supply Chain Automation. As the name suggests, multi-vendor Supply Chain Automation means being able to orchestrate the various business process-related tasks for both digital and linear broadcast business requirements across multiple suppliers/vendors. That includes ingest and QC, postproduction, localisation and playout suppliers. Multi-vendor Supply Chain manages vendor tasks and deadlines, automates media transfers and receipts from
vendors, plans supply chain tasks through advance forecasting, cascades changes in business priority to supplier priority across the supply chain, and tracks status dynamically across the supply chain for every asset/title. Clear offers one platform, a
central repository for content acquisition, processing, media operations, delivery to digital platforms, linear playout and archive. In addition, it enables seamless work with its service providers like content suppliers, online service providers, access service providers, postproduction service providers, and linear service providers through automated content workfl ows.
What are the main areas of focus for your company during IBC2022?
PFT at IBC2022 is showcasing Clear, a modern, demand-driven supply chain platform that provides visibility and the power to get to market faster at lower costs. We’ll also show remote postproduction, supercharged with a next-gen collaboration platform, all inside Clear Panel for Adobe Premiere Pro; and Clear AI Everywhere, transforming the content supply chain with continuous AI.
What are your priorities for the next 12 months? In the coming year, PFT will focus on bringing AI benefi ts to our customers across the supply chain and making AI work for them holistically and not as a one-off instance; helping customers on their journey to the cloud, more effi ciently with an on-prem to cloud, scale-out, to start with and then using the cloud with the most effective multi-tenanted architecture; having our customers collaborate much more effi ciently while they engage in remote postproduction; and enabling our customers with a platform to monetise their content with an easy-to-use storefront.
What sets your company apart as a technology leader? We believe in staying focused on what matters most to our clients and not losing sight of how our technology can make a difference to our customers. Deployed successfully on cloud for the last 14 years, Clear is currently in its third generation, turbocharged with AI solving, and has been transforming our customers’ content supply chain.
