MEETING BUSINESS OBJECTIVES THROUGH COLLABORATION Supporting media companies, sharing intelligence and connecting the
media tech ecosystem are all important aspects of the IABM’s work, and it’ll be doing just that here at IBC, says CEO Peter White
As the international trade association for broadcast and media technology suppliers, IABM helps make sense of the digital transformation happening in the broadcast, media and entertainment technology landscape, keeping the industry abreast of transformative media technologies and connecting media companies to the media technology community. Comments Peter White, CEO at the IABM:
“We are always looking for new and better ways to support our members and the wider industry. Our current focus is creating a collaborative environment where media companies can be helped to resolve issues and problems that face them in a constructive and supportive way; in other words, bringing media companies and tech suppliers closer together to accelerate change and the implementation of solutions.” White continues: “We are the trusted, effective and influential source for business intelligence, engagement and skills development. We connect, share knowledge and promote collaboration. We are an independent, international trade and business organisation that connects, supports and informs the entire media tech ecosystem. Our membership includes 500-plus media technology suppliers who together account for the majority of revenues in the sector.” “We also maintain a close relationship with several hundred global engaged partners from broadcast and media companies, who benefit from collaborations and connections with the industry’s leading technology suppliers to solve the buying dilemmas they often face,” he adds. “This partnership promotes positive conversations and the alignment of technology with business objectives.”
IABM CONTENT AT IBC
At IBC, IABM has a lot of content to share with visitors. Says White: “We are providing insightful, free content each day for visitors to the show on our BaM Live Stage as part of our partners’ contribution as well as the show opener for the main conference programme.” IA will be presenting its latest findings on the key trends in the industry at its show opener event from 10:00-10:45 today in the RAI Forum. Entitled Looking to the Future –
Unique insights and research from IABM, the session can be summarised under the headings of transformation, convergence and resilience, according to White. “Both external and internal drivers are having a major impact on businesses,” he explains. “External forces such as disruption to supply chains, increasing cyber threats, inflation, scarcity of talent and components are all directly impacting media and entertainment. Internally, changing viewing habits and pressure on viewers finances are fuelling a move to A business models, spending on in-sourcing at media companies continues to grow as does M&A activity. The importance of local content continues to increase, with spending on international originals predicted to rise significantly as streamers look to grow their business geographically.”
“We are the trusted, effective and inflential sorce or siness intelligence engageent and skills deeloent
He goes on: “[Those three] trends [of transformation, convergence and resilience] will continue to be at the top of the agenda over the coming months, with no end in sight for any of the major external drivers’ effects and the need for broadcast and media companies to adapt accordingly.” In addition to the IABM’s regular support at shows for members with lounges, meeting rooms, receptions, IA T interviews and panels, it is also presenting on the BaM Live Stage outside Hall 8 on each day of the show. This will provide continuous presentations covering all major industry themes and is open to all. Today the topic will be transformation, featuring digital domination, cloud and artificial intelligence, 5G and Edge computing, as-a- service and sourcing. On Saturday the theme will be convergence, looking at monetisation, Web 3.0, interactivity and UX, plus creativity and the metaverse. On Sunday the BaM Live Stage will explore resilience with decentralisation and security, disruption and mitigation, plus ESG on the agenda. Finally, on Monday, the stage will cover
