An ideal solution to the common physics experiment demonstrating that sound will not travel in a vacuum. Consists of a sturdy metal base plate, an acrylic bell jar and an electric bell. A DC Power Supply (3-6V) and Vacuum Pump are not included but are also required for operation. The air is evacuated from the jar using a Vacuum Pump (not supplied) and the volume of the bell decreases. As air is re-introduced to the jar, the volume of the bell can be heard rising.
E8L11149 B. Bell Jar
Replacement Bell Jar for the Bell in a Bell Jar Experiment.
Bottom flange is ground flat to ensure a perfect seal. Acrylic. Size 250 x 140mm. E8R06932
D C. Bell
Replacement Bell for the Bell in a Bell Jar. Operates on 4-6V a.c./d.c. E8R06933
D. Plastic Magdeburg Hemispheres
A traditional demonstration apparatus brought up to date, it consists of 2 plastic hemispheres with an effective O-ring seal and 6mm plastic valve. When evacuated a force in excess of 1400N is required to separate them. Can be evacuated with Hand Operated Pump.
