Atomic Physics and Radiation | Physics A. Philip Harris GM Probe
The new Philip Harris GM Probe has been developed by our own in-house experts who sought to provide a more cost effective option for the purchasing of a Geiger Muller tube in schools and colleges. The probe has a BNC connector and it does not require a separate holder, meaning it can easily be mounted, positioned and held using a retort stand and clamp.
The probe is compatible with timers and counters that require an external anode resistor (including the Philip Harris S-Range Digicounter).
CP00050429 B. UVC Lamp with bulb
The UVC lamp is primarily intended to demonstrate the photoelectric effect using a zinc plate and gold leaf electroscope. The lamp emits UVC light with a peak wavelength of 253.7nm and must not be used as a general purpose UV light source. This lamp is an excellent replacement for the now obsolete Philips TUV6 lamp. The UVC bulb is housed in a robust Aluminium extrusion and is supplied with a 24V d.c. power supply.
The UV bulb is a replacement for the bulb supplied with the UVC Lamp. E8R07211
D. Ultraviolet Detecting Beads
A fun way to learn about the power of sunlight. As well as making bracelets, pupils are able to carry out fun experiments investigating solar radiation, effectiveness of suncream and sunlight. • Observe radiation from the Sun at different times of the day • Test the effectiveness of glass in blocking the Sun’s rays • Test the effectiveness of different SPF sunscreen. A bag of white beads which turn into many different colours when exposed to an ultraviolet light source. Ideal for observing UV radiation from the Sun.

E. Zinc Plate
A 40 x 40mm zinc plate on a 4mm connector which can replace the top plate of an electroscope. The plate can be used to show discharge under UV Lighting and the photo-electric effect. A suitable wavelength UV lamp is required. Dimensions: 40 x 40 x 25mm. Mass 0.03kg.
