Introduction Market Dynamics Report | Overview

Table (SLT) that has been a barometer for measuring supplier performance across hundreds of system selection engagements that are carried out across the globe.

The Market Dynamics Report (MDR) is developed based on the details submitted by over 70 suppliers who are ranked on the SLT, which includes the details of their wins, the system category – including universal, wholesale, retail, private and lending, and analyzed across geographies. This year’s edition of the MDR also includes four new categories - CRM, Digital, Payments and Risk Management - that were introduced in the IBS Sales League Table 2017 – in line with evolving banking technology systems.

This year’s MDR edition features 1,500+ on and off the record deals, including:     

362 newnameinternationalcoreandbackofficedealsforJantoDec2016 186 new name international new focus area deals from Jan to Dec 2016 809 on-the-record deals (with bank names specified) for deals over last 5years 760 off-therecorddeals(bank names excluded) for deals over last 5 years 79 international suppliers’ sales across 170 + countries

In order to ensure that reporting is consistent and comparable across systems and geographies, the SLT excludes license renewals as well as extensions to the current license (new geography, new functionality, etc.) and restricted to the pre-defined categories – i.e. the core and back office systems that are addressed across universal, wholesale, retail, private and lending system categories and systems falling in the CRM, Digital Banking Channels, Payments and Risk Management categories. The SLT is limited to financial institution sales, and is compiled annually from submissions made from each supplier, which are independently verified. Key to note here is that the Sales League Table does not distinguish between large and small deals, considering these are more to do with the volume of the deals won during the year across system types and geographies, and not a function of value. The domestic deals of US, India and Russia have also been excluded from the Global Sales League Table for obvious reasons and are shown separately as Domestic Sales League Tables. While we look at size of deal in the commentary, there is no weighing for this on the table itself. And we are also not comparing like-for-like systems – the colour coding on the Table itself is meant to help categorise, emphasizing which systems are universal, retail, lending, private banking and wholesale in primary focus. Please read more on the methodology described later in this report.

The report also includes incisive commentary based on 20 plus years of in depth market knowledge of IBS and drawn on inputs provided by industry experts.

In addition to this Market Dynamics report, IBS Intelligence library includes 20+ reports, with focus on specific areas including Digital Banking, Treasury and Capital Markets, Wealth Management, Universal Banking, Payments, Risk Management and Islamic Banking. It also includes geography specific reports related to US and UK fintech markets, and regional case studies.
