urrently in its sixth year, the Lexus Design Awards offer young innovators from across the globe the opportunity to develop


innovative concepts and designs that can address fundamental concerns facing the world today. Successful contestants will receive feedback from world-renowned professionals in the sector, prototype funding and an invitation to exhibit at the Lexus Design Event during Milan Design Week. This year’s theme, “CO-” (derived


from the Latin prefix meaning “with” or “together in harmony”), explores whether design can seek solutions and overcome barriers to a range of global challenges by harmonious integrations of nature and society. This year the awards saw


unprecedented levels of participation and attracted some 1 300 entries from 68 countries. The panel of prestigious judges eventually chose 12 finalists, the first four of whom will now be able to prototype their designs under the guidance and mentorship of an elite team of established creators. The Grand Prix winner, Testing Hypotheticals by Extrapolation Factory (Christopher Woebken and Elliot P Montgomery), was announced on 16 April during a ceremony held at the Lexus Limitless Co-existence space in Milan.
