The world emerged from Lockdown a diff erent place to the one we knew before 2020. Politically, economically and socially, many aspects of our lives had changed, albeit some of them only fl eetingly while others are having a longer-term eff ect on the way we live. What’s more, those changes are not lost on designers, according to Holly Becker, the driving force behind Mood Spaces. As a result, several key trends are emerging that refl ect, not only the
way we live and work, but the way we approach modern life and the values we are embracing. And while that may be true of many areas, the infl uence on interiors is more profound, given the attachment we have to our homes and the importance we place on our environment. “Life is a little diff erent on the other side,” she said. “A lot has changed.
We have changed. We all better recognise the value of having a home that refl ects who we are that can support and enhance our life. I think
we can all agree on that.” Speaking ahead of DOMOTEX 2023, she gave her personal insights into how these manifest themselves by highlighting four emerging trends and giving examples

architects who are embracing them. “Home has now become more of an offi ce,” she said. “A lot of my friends who were working before in an offi ce are still working from home or doing a split between both the offi ce and the home. “Three years ago, that was unheard of. Also, people are now shopping
and I see people getting deliveries all the time. I can’t tell you how many Amazon boxes I see coming into my own house.”
That attitude to screen interaction extends into many areas: learning, ordering takeaway food, exercising,
