The fl ooring market was estimated at almost €260 billion globally last year and is expected to rise by more than six per cent over the next few years, thanks in part to rising demand for environmentally sustainable products and the sheer range of innovative production solutions. New and exciting designs, textures, and colours have also helped, along with an increase in low-maintenance and easy-to- install options. All in all, it’s been an active period for the industry. Flooring boasts many examples by which nature and technical innovation are fi nding expression in contemporary living spaces, something which itself has sparked a host of new applications and opportunities for growth by off ering a swathe of practical solutions. The displays devoted to application and installation technology, for
example, will not only showcase the latest products and innovations, but demonstrate how eff ective they are in real-world applications. Halls 19 - 23 will comprise the entire “Flooring” showcase, providing an ideal setting for networking and order placement on the part of visitors from the wholesale and retail trades as well as architects, interior designers, skilled tradespeople and professionals from the furniture industry and the world of interior decorating. In particular, Hall 22 will feature application and installation
technology. The many uses of fl oor coverings for walls will round off the show’s expanded scope while putting a brighter-than-ever spotlight on the sort of solutions regularly presented by exhibitors. Porcelain tiles have been market favourites of late, accounting for more than a quarter of revenue share, partly because of their strength
and durability which gave them an advantage over ceramic alternatives. The wood and laminate segment has also been performing well in recent times, as has the more expensive option of natural stone, whether marble, granite, limestone, sandstone or quartzite, something that has seen companies investing heavily. A healthy market is usually one that
fosters innovation, giving engineers the freedom to conceptualise, whether from a blank page or by developing concepts on the open market, such as the case of polymers, locking systems or composite engineered wood. And that’s where DOMOTEX excels. One of its great draws is the way it opens a timely window into what’s going on in these sectors. In the past, it’s true to say that visitors and exhibitors alike have come away infused with not only ideas but inspiration. And there’s no reason why it should be any diff erent this time around.
