About Cosán na Gealaí
Cosán na Gealaí is a brand new interactive, integrated and exciting Irish-Language Programme, fully aligned with the Primary Language Curriculum (PLC). The programme provides fun and engaging language-learning experiences and a communicative-based approach to language teaching and learning, using a blended, interactive approach across print and digital. Leabhar Pleanála agus Acmhainní an Mhúinteora provides a wealth of teacher support materials to allow for easy implementation of the Primary Language Curriculum in your school.
Planning and Support
Cosán na Gealaí First Class and Second Class is supported by a comprehensive planning and resource book and digital library. These sample pages provide as follows:

There is one leabhar scileanna for each level with eighteen thematic units that cover a fortnight’s work and that complement the Aistear framework. The Skills Books follow a thematic approach, cover oral language skills, reading skills, phonics, grammar, target vocabulary, fiction and non-fiction genres and cultural experiences, and promote a living language environment through play, games, songs, poems and indoor and outdoor activities.
Cosán na Gealaí First Class and Second Class come with beautifully illustrated Picture Books as Gaeilge, which are linked thematically with each month and are specially chosen to enhance language learning experiences. There is an extensive digital library that allows teachers and pupils to interact with Cosán na Gealaí through oral language posters for each month. Each poster has a story mode, explore mode and conversation mode, as well as interactive activities and games. The high-frequency words and language content, including words and phrases in the Picture Books, are repeatedly recast in the Skills Books, readers, digital resources, songs, poems and printables to reinforce the language regularly for the children. Interactive readers are also available for each month as well as editable plans, downloadable resources, worksheets and much more to support teaching and learning.
