AIR FRANCE CEO IN SURPRISE RESIGNATION

AIR FRANCE HAS ACCEPTED the resignation of Franck Terner as chief executive of the airline, appointing newcomer Benjamin Smith to fill the role temporarily. The reason for his resignation was not outlined in the airline’s statement. Terner became chief executive in November 2016, having joined the Air France 36 years ago. Smith was hired as the new chief executive of the Air France KLM group in September. Following Terner’s resignation, Smith will oversee the operation of Air France in the interim. He takes over the role as Air France continued negotiations with unions in a dispute over staff salary that has led to multiple days of strike action and cost the airline hundreds of millions of euros.

Flybe unveils new livery

REGIONAL CARRIER FLYBE has revealed a new livery being rolled out across its Bombardier Q400 and Embraer 175 aircraft. The airline said some ten aircraft will

be rebranded with the new livery every year, with completion of the entire fleet scheduled for 2025. Coordinated in line with the carrier’s existing fleet repainting and planned maintenance programmes, the new white and purple livery can be delivered “at no extra cost”, according to Flybe. The first rebranded aircraft was added to the fleet in September.

The new design is a major upgrade

of Flybe’s well-known, all-over purple branding, and the airline stated the “streamlined” livery brings its aircraft in line with its new “Close to You” tagline. Four new Embraer 175 jets, scheduled

to be delivered in July 2019, will feature the new livery.
